Who wrote the program

Coaches, not a content team.

Every team that starts here gets a mental performance program built in — the same one we teach from the sideline and wrote down in the books. This is who wrote it.

Tim McDermott

Founder · author of The Dojo Decision

A college and youth lacrosse coach, and a striving practitioner of the lessons in The Dojo Decision series.

Tim began developing these strategies to make his own Dojo Decision and build his Black Belt Mentality as an All-American at DIII Geneseo State, graduating early to accelerate both his academic and athletic career and finishing with an MBA at Loyola University. He played briefly in Major League Lacrosse before starting his coaching career at the University of Virginia.

A hiatus from college coaching took him into peak performance and sports-performance entrepreneurship, and the work from those years is what became the program inside this app.

Sammy Jo Tracy

Co-author, the women’s edition

A two-time national champion and All-American at the University of North Carolina, and co-author of the women’s lacrosse edition of The Dojo Decision.

A native of Bedford, New York, Sammy Jo has played professionally since graduating from UNC — three years with the WPLL Pride and four summers with Athletes Unlimited. She has coached at Arizona State and Harvard, and served as National Director of Team 91 Colorado, one of the top youth development programs in the state.

She now lives in Virginia Beach and spends her time mentoring young athletes.

Dr. Lorenzo Guess

Director of Athletic Performance, Michigan State men’s basketball

Dr. Guess is the Director of Athletic Performance and Strength & Conditioning for men’s basketball at Michigan State University, a leadership course instructor and a public speaker.

He has spent more than a decade at Michigan State shaping athletes into stronger players and better leaders, and is known as much for how he mentors student-athletes as for his training expertise.

Or bring your own

The built-in program is the default, not the deal. A coach can write their own course in the app, import the one their program already uses, or put their own mental performance coach in front of the team — their name, their booking link, on every athlete’s screen instead of ours.
